From Jodhpur’s blue lanes to Jawai’s untamed wilderness

Spend two days discovering the architecture and everyday character of Jodhpur before travelling to Jawai, where granite hills, pastoral villages and wildlife safaris create a completely different Rajasthan experience.

Day 1

Jodhpur: Arrival & Sightseeing

Arrive at Jodhpur Airport or railway station and meet our representative for your transfer to the hotel. After check-in and some time to rest, begin with an easy exploration of the old city.

Visit Toorji Ka Jhalra and admire the geometric steps descending into this restored historic water structure. Continue towards the Clock Tower and wander through Sardar Market, where stalls display spices, textiles, handicrafts, jewellery and traditional Jodhpuri products.

Spend the evening soaking up the lively atmosphere of the market streets before returning to your hotel.

Places covered: Toorji Ka Jhalra, Clock Tower and Sardar Market
Overnight stay: Hotel in Jodhpur

Day 2

Jodhpur: Local Sightseeing

Begin the morning at Mehrangarh Fort, dramatically positioned above Jodhpur. Pass through its fortified gateways and explore royal apartments, courtyards, museum galleries and terraces overlooking the blue neighbourhoods below.

Continue to Jaswant Thada, a graceful marble memorial set amid landscaped gardens. Later, visit Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum and discover the story of Jodhpur’s twentieth-century royal residence.

Complete the day with a walk through the old Blue City, where narrow lanes, painted homes, small shrines and decorative doorways reveal the quieter character of Jodhpur beyond its monuments. Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and Umaid Bhawan Palace are among the principal attractions highlighted by Rajasthan Tourism.

Places covered: Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum and Blue City
Overnight stay: Hotel in Jodhpur

Day 3

Jawai: Wildlife Safari

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin the drive towards Jawai. The urban landscape gradually gives way to rural settlements, open fields and the striking granite formations of the region.

Arrive at your lodge or camp and take some time to settle in. Later, head out in an open safari vehicle with an experienced local tracker to explore Jawai’s rocky terrain and search for leopards and other wildlife.

Along the way, observe the surrounding hills, village landscapes and pastoral life that give Jawai its distinctive character. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, as the safari takes place in a natural and uncontrolled environment.

Return to the property after sunset and enjoy a relaxed evening in the countryside.

Places and experiences covered: Scenic drive to Jawai, evening jeep safari, wildlife tracking and rural landscapes
Overnight stay: Lodge or camp in Jawai

Day 4

Jawai: Sightseeing & Departure

Begin before sunrise with an optional second safari, when the cool morning light offers another opportunity to explore Jawai’s granite hills and wildlife routes.

Return to the property for breakfast and check out. Depending on the confirmed schedule, you may pause near Jawai Dam or visit a nearby village before beginning the return journey to Jodhpur.

You will be transferred to Jodhpur Airport or railway station for your onward journey. Travellers should plan a suitably late departure because the return drive from Jawai requires several hours.

Places and experiences covered: Morning safari and Jawai countryside
Tour ends: Drop-off in Jodhpur
