Enter Jaisalmer Fort and wander through its inhabited lanes, passing traditional homes, craft shops, temples and elevated viewpoints. Visit the Jain Temples before continuing to Patwon Ki Haveli, whose closely grouped mansions display some of the city’s finest sandstone carving.

Towards evening, visit Gadisar Lake and walk along its historic ghats and decorative gateways as the setting sun softens the surrounding golden architecture.

Overnight stay: Hotel in Jaisalmer

Day 2

Jaisalmer: Desert Experience

After breakfast, check out and leave the city behind for a journey through Jaisalmer’s desert outskirts.

Begin at Bada Bagh, a collection of royal cenotaphs overlooking the open plains. Continue to Amar Sagar and explore its historic reservoir, temple and sandstone pavilions.

The route then passes through Kuldhara, where roofless homes and deserted lanes preserve the story of an abandoned Paliwal settlement. From there, proceed to Khaba Fort for broad views across another ruined village and the surrounding wilderness.

Reach Sam Sand Dunes in the afternoon and settle into the desert camp. As the day cools, enjoy a camel safari over the dunes and watch the sunset spread across the horizon. Return to the camp for folk music, traditional dance and dinner.

Day 3

Sam Sand Dunes - Jodhpur

Wake up amid the peaceful desert surroundings and enjoy breakfast at the camp. After check-out, begin the drive towards Jodhpur.

The journey crosses stretches of scrubland, rural settlements and the open plains of Marwar before the formidable outline of Mehrangarh appears above the Blue City.

After arriving, check in at the hotel and take some time to rest. In the evening, visit Toorji Ka Jhalra and continue towards the Clock Tower. Explore Sardar Market, where shops and stalls offer spices, fabrics, handicrafts, jewellery and local snacks.

Begin the day at Mehrangarh Fort, approached through a series of monumental gateways cut into the rocky hill. Inside, explore royal chambers, decorated courtyards, museum displays and terraces overlooking the blue-painted city below.

Continue to Jaswant Thada, an elegant marble memorial whose calm gardens provide a peaceful contrast to the fort. Later, visit Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum and discover the story behind Jodhpur’s twentieth-century royal residence.

Complete the day with a walk through the older blue neighbourhoods, where narrow passages, painted walls, small shrines and ornamental doors reveal the city’s everyday character.
